Gathered friends, listen again to our legend of the BIONICLE...

Beginning in February 2019, Gathered Friends is a read-along book club podcast covering all of BIONICLE’s written history. Appearing on 810NICLE Day 3 times over its original 2 season run, (and 1 special) and spawning 3 spinoff shows, Gathered Friends featured new and familiar faces alike from throughout the community, as well as a handful of special guests including Greg Farshtey and Ryder Windham, writers of the G1 and G2 novels respectively.

Now on the 5th anniversary of the show, Gathered Friends returns for a third season in 2024! This time around they'll be covering the Myths & Legacy catalogue, along with some other curated fan works. Join Liam, Chip, Levi, Josie, and new host Maks as we revisit the stories of the Great Spirit, now told by YOU.

Unity, Duty, Destiny. This is the way of the BIONICLE.

CHIP - (Charlotte)

Charlotte founded the Gathered Friends podcast back in 2019 as a means of getting her good friend Levi into the BIONICLE series. She hosted the first two seasons and two spinoffs, Gathered Pharaohs & Gathered Crew, and has since gone on to become a regular member of The Beaverhouse team, as well as hosting multiple events on 810NICLE Day since its inception. While she unfortunately won't be behind the wheel for much of Gathered Friends season 3, she is still diligently working behind the scenes on editing and artwork, and may in time appear in the occasional episode.

GLIBB - (Levi)

Levi was the heart and soul of the series, without whom there would be no podcast to speak of! A newcomer to the BIONICLE series at the time of founding, his interest in familiarizing himself with the world of BIONICLE was the primary reason for the show's creation 5 years ago. Since then he's become just as much of a lore aficionado as the rest of us, joining in for every season of Gathered Friends, and all of its spinoffs. Levi continues to be a shining example of how through unity, (and projects such as the Biological Chronicle) BIONICLE and its community can be welcoming to all.

VAHKITI - (Liam)

Founding The Beaverhouse all the way back in 2006 when YouTube was new, Liam built the channel as a let's play group with his closest friends, colloquially known as "Jo Cubed" at the time. With the passage of time however, and the discovery of The Legend of Mata Nui, many new friends joined our ranks, eventually paving the way for the creation of this show. Liam would go on to lend a hand to many community initiatives such as the Mask of Destiny Tryna Initiative, and the creation of 810NICLE Day. But even after half a decade, Gathered Friends still holds a special place in his heart.

QSKSw - (Josie)

Josie got into LEGO at a very young age after it played a huge part in her rehabilitation following the removal of a brain tumour. In 2005 she would meet Liam on the BIONICLE fan site BZPower, after which the two would forge a bond stronger than Protosteel. Josie was one of the founding members of The Beaverhouse, and one third of the "Jo Cubed" group. While her particular brand of humour can be offputting to some, she's nonetheless been a good friend, and become synonymous with The Beaverhouse itself! When people think of The Beaverhouse, they more than likely think of Josie.

MAKS DUDEK

Maks has been a longtime fan of BIONICLE, but otherwise kept a relatively low profile in the community. In recent years however he's begun to make his presence more known. He has contributed both his voice talent and story ideas to the Vision of the Great Beings project for Myths & Legacy, and is now joining The Beaverhouse crew to host Gathered Friends for its 3rd season, celebrating the show's 5th anniversary. Much as season 1 of the podcast was Levi's gateway into BIONICLE as a whole, so too might this be Maks' gateway back into the greater BIONICLE community.

LIVE THE LEGEND

Whether you're new to the series or a longtime fan, there are many different ways you can experience the legend of BIONICLE with us:

BIOLOGICAL CHRONICLE

Biological Chronicle is one of the first comprehensive resources of digitized BIONICLE bibliography produced by the community. Painstakingly compiled over a period of several years by TuragaNuva and her team at Cross-Wired Geeks, Biological Chronicle contains everything from books & comics, to transcribed game content, all compiled into convenient and elegant e-books divided up into story arcs. This project, (or the 2019 complete edition of it) contains the content that we read for season 1 of the show. If you want to directly read along with us from the very beginning, Biological Chronicle would be your best choice.

WALL OF HISTORY

Created by JSLBrowning, Wall of History is another fantastic resource for the written works of BIONICLE. In contrast to Biological Chronicle, Wall of History is entirely web based, with a very user-friendly interface crammed full of options to improve and customize the reading experience to your liking. Wall of History also contains many other pieces of the BIONICLE story including movies, video games, character bios, and more, making it one of the best resources to experience everything that BIONICLE has to offer. While it may not perfectly align exactly with the reading order and material of Gathered Friends, it is still a perfectly viable option to catch up on the story while you listen.

MYTHS & LEGACY

Spawned from the chatrooms of Custom BIONICLE Wiki, Myths & Legacy was created by Gonel and BobTheDoctor27 as a hub of curated, canon-compliant fan fiction to expand on the lore of the BIONICLE legend, as well as fill in its many missing pieces. Now probably most well-known for the Vision of the Great Beings project co-helmed by Greg Farshtey himself, Myths & Legacy plays host to dozens of tales both long and short, written by an ever-expanding team of writers. Season 3 of Gathered Friends covers the entire Myths & Legacy catalogue.

THE BIOMEDIA PROJECT

The single largest archive of BIONICLE media on the internet, The BioMedia Project has dutifully curated hundreds of gigabytes of content for well over a decade now. Originally created by Auron on BZPower as simply "The BIONICLE Music Project" and now helmed under Mask Of Destiny, the archives contain everything from images and videos, to style guides and other internal documents. Data that may have once been lost to the well of time has since been carefully curated and preserved for generations to come. If you're looking to engage with, (some) G2 content to follow along with season 2 of the show, or are just looking for alternative sources of other written or visual media, this would be the place to look.
